The collection is characterized by its sensual, erotic and lesbian themes, blending antiquity with fin-de-siècle aesthetics. This edition, part of the renowned Le Livre de Demain series, is illustrated with 88 original wood engravings by the Russian-born artist Jean Lébédeff (1884–1972), whose decorative and expressive style enriches the text.
