Arthur Rackham (1867–1939) was one of the foremost British illustrators of the late Victorian and Edwardian period, celebrated as a leading figure of the “Golden Age of Book Illustration.” His distinctive combination of delicate line work, subtle colouring, and whimsical fantasy made his art instantly recognizable. Among his best-known works are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and The Wind in the Willows. His illustrations for Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (1906) are considered masterpieces of early 20th-century book art and a defining visual interpretation of Barrie’s timeless story.
